About John
My main background is in music. I’ve played guitar most of my life and have a music degree from Wayne State University. Pain and discomfort at the instrument, as well as dissatisfaction with my playing, brought me to try out Alexander Technique.
Over time, with lessons and self-study, I made great strides toward eliminating pain, discomfort, and awkwardness from my playing. Actually, the benefits of Alexander Technique extend beyond just pain-reduction into all aspects of music making, and I highly recommend it to artists of all sorts (and everyone else).
Alexander Technique teachers commit to a 3-year, 1600 hour program. Much of this time is dedicated to developing the hands-on skill that is the hallmark of the Technique. I’m happy to lend my experience and expertise to help people rediscover a more comfortable, pain-free life. The natural ease and efficiency that Alexander Technique helps to restore can be life-changing. As a musician and former hockey player, I especially enjoy working with other performing artists and athletes to unlock their full potential.
